Carl Horner was THE premier photographer of the early 20th century. The images used from his photography sessions were produced as photographic cabinets, but later became the basis for many baseball cards - including the noteworthy sets of T206, T204, M116, and E107. For example, this image of Roger Bresnahan was used for his likeness on the W600 Sporting Life Cabinet, Fan Craze, and T204 Ramly as well as in mirror image for his E103 Williams Caramel and M116 Sporting Life cards. Horner's amazing ability to light and photograph his subjects captured their likenesses in a way like few others. It was likely during 1903 - Bresnahan's first full season with the New York Giants - that the youthful lad sat in Horner's studio for this photography session.

Known not only for his catching of battery-mate Christy Mathewson, but as the innovator of protective leg gear for catcher's legs, Roger Bresnahan had a career worthy of his hall of fame induction. As incredible as the contrast and clarity of this image of Roger Bresnahan is, the pencil-written inscription on its back provides an even higher level of interest and joy. Reading "Roger to Jim, Christmas 1903," the inscription, which was penned by Mr. Bresnahan himself, indicates that this 5x7 cabinet was gifted from the hall of famer to his little brother Jim.

In addition to coming with a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA, it also comes with a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA), and a Letter of Provenance from Roger Bresnahan, the Grand Nephew of HOFer Roger Bresnahan. Quite simply, this phenomenal piece is worthy of being a cornerstone in an advanced collection.
