Seldom available even as individual examples, to find a group of JKA cabinets is incredible rare. These 1911 cabinets from the New York studio of Jones Keyser & Arras feature several players from the champion New York National team. Namely, the players featured include: Red Ames SGC 35/2.5, Art Devlin SGC 50/4, Larry Doyle SGC 40/3, Hooks Wiltse SGC 40/3, and Chief Meyers SGC 50/4 (one half of the battery with Christy Mathewson, whose JKA cabinet is featured elsewhere in this auction). Part of a series numbered between 301 and 350 suggests that a complete set would number 50 images; however, the issue is so scarce that the complete checklist is not known. It is also unknown how JKA cabinets were distributed or how many were ever released. What is known is that few have survived since that time. To give an indication of the issue's scarcity, one need not look much further than the population reports. Regardless of the player, a total of 25 JKA cabinets have been graded by SGC and only 3 JKA cabinets have been graded by PSA. Each cabinet features a sepia-toned photograph mounted on the studio's 4-3/4" x 7-1/4" cardboard stock. The back features the studio's name and address. Corner wear on the cardboard stock is responsible for each of the technical grades of these fantastic cabinets.
