In 1932, the Walker's Cleaners, a tailor and clothes cleaning company in Green Bay, produced a commemorative album which honored the three time champion Green Bay Packers. According to the promotion, pictures of Packers would be given to customers as premiums. Each measuring 9"x10", a total of 27 different sepia-toned photos were offered. The photos were issued with a tab affixed to the left border that provided a biography of the player and advertising for Walker's Cleaners. Five players in the set performed well enough in their careers that they earned enshrinement in Canton's Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Curly Lambeau, Johnny Blood McNally, Arnie Herber, Mike Michalske, and Cal Hubbard were those five players.

The Walker's Cleaners are rare...in the 15 years that we have been tracking the premiums, we have accounted for only eight different sets, including the one offered in this auction. It has been assumed that premiums were issued one at a time as singles and added by collectors to their albums. Aside from individual premiums being offered out of the previously-mentioned eight sets, far fewer singles have been offered for sale. Accordingly, it can be inferred that Walker's Cleaners issued a limited number of complete albums and may have never issued individual premiums.

Regardless of their method of issuance, the 27 numbered premiums have been inserted into this album in order.  Specifically, the players found are: Lambeau, Baker, Saunders, Engelman, Bruder, Carlos, Grove, Michalske, Gantenbein, Dilweg, Lewellen, Dunn, Blood (McNally), Earp, Herber, Stahlman, Sleight, Comstock, Bowdoin, McCray, Molenda, Hubbard, Fitzgibbon, Nash, Wilson, Woodin, and Barragar.

Though the offered set has its technical flaws such as the detachment of the front cover and the absence of the frontpiece describing the promotion, the set is complete and the photos are in very good condition.  In order to see the premiums more clearly, the original collector removed the tabs from the photos, trimmed off the Walker's promotional information, and affixed the remaining bio to the back of each player's photo.  The result is a photo album where the player's images and bios are able to be viewed in an intuitive fashion.  Don't settle for just a type card when such a beautiful set is available in what has been called the most significant, regionally-issued set in the football hobby.
