Shortstop Phil Rizzuto played his entire career with the New York Yankees from 1941, 1942, and 1946 through 1956. (He did not play during the three seasons from 1943 to 1945 due to honoring his country by serving in the U.S. Navy.) Rizzuto anchored his team in the field and with his contact hitting as the Yankees won seven world championships during his tenure. Retiring from the baseball diamond, the beloved Rizzuto went on to the broadcast booth where he entertained fans for more than 40 years. His 13 year career was deemed worthy of induction to the hall of fame in Cooperstown in no small part due to his on the field accomplishments including winning the American League Most Valuable Player in 1950. Phil’s signature has been beautifully penned across the sweet spot of this baseball and inscribed with his A.L. MVP 1950 accolade. Having passed away in 2007, his signature has been authenticated with a Basic Certification by James Spence Authentication (JSA).
