Cigar manufacturers competed for market share by using colorful and themed labeling. The fascination with Native American culture from the late 19th and well into the 20th century spawned many advertising campaigns. The tobacco industry was no exception; utilizing a number of designs to adorn it's products. Offered here is a beautiful embossed inner label (salesman's sample) titled " Red Hawk". The Historical "Red Hawk"(Cetan Luta) – was of the Sioux Oglala tribe. He fought in the Battle Of The Little Big Horn and defeated General George A. Custer, 1876. The label was produced by the American Lithographic Company; copyright 1902. The 5 7/8" x 7" piece has been graded GCLGS (Global Cigar Label Grading Service) 6, Very Fine (trimmed). Rare.
