"Pro Football Needs a Hall of Fame and the Logical Site is Here" was the title of a article written in a 1959 Canton, Ohio newspaper. Latrobe, Pennsylvania had actually been given the right to open a Hall of Fame; but lack of funding and political issues hampered the communities efforts for nearly ten years before Canton made it's bid. The civic leaders and citizens of Canton had a well organized plan and raised nearly a half-million dollars to construct the shrine. The doors opened in 1963.

Offered here is a formal proposal; likely from 1960 or 1961, for the NFL to consider Canton as the site for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The proposal includes detailed plans, diagrams, financial terms, football history of the Canton area, and endorsements. The 16 page document is in very good condition with some creasing and mild wear.

An incredible piece of football and American history!
