The ornate-bordered post card set, produced in Canton, Ohio by the Novelty Cutlery Company, includes numerous hall of famers, including four of the five members of the Baseball Hall of Fame's first class. Along with Cobb, Wagner, and Mathewson, Walter Johnson anchors this popular and highly-collectible set. SGC attributes the date range of Novelty Cutlery to 1907-1909, but research by Kevin Struss indicates that the set was most likely produced in 1910 (using 1909 images) - similar to the PC796 Sepia set with which it shares images. Staining and edge damage along the right side downgrades the condition of this post card, but these flaws do not impact the central black & white photographic image of the Big Train. With a total graded population of 8, the Novelty Cutlery postcard of Walter Johnson is quite scarce. Don't miss this opportunity to add an early card of one of the best pitchers of all time.
