Ninety years later, the story of the 1925 Pottsville Maroons is a topic that is still discussed and debated. With their NFL championship stripped due to a technicality; many residents of Pottsville today still campaign for the reinstatement of the 1925 title. With humble beginnings as a local team following World War I; Pottsville steadily recruited and improved its roster and entered the NFL in 1925. The team remained in Pottsville for only the next four years; unable to compete with the franchises based in larger cities.

The offered cabinet shows the 1921 team, then known as the Pottsville Eleven. The players, most of who were locals, are listed beneath the photo. Walter Farquhar, an organizer and supporter of Pottsville football, is seated center in the front row.

The cabinet mount measures approximately 11" x 13" overall with the photo framed to 7 1/4" x 9 1/4". The reverse is blank and clean.
