In 1924 Notre Dame captured the National Championship with a 10-0 record and were led by the now mythical backfield quartet of Elmer Layden, Harry Stuhldreher, Don Miller, and Jim Crowley...dubbed the "Four Horsemen" by famed sportswriter Grantland Rice. The cabinet predates the magical season by one year, being issued in 1923; but all four of the horsemen are present on the cabinet along with legendary coach Knute Rockne. Rockne stands at the far left of the third row, Crowley is seated in front of Rockne in the second row, Layden stands in the back row second from the right, and Miller and Stuhldreher are seated in the first row (Miller left, Stuhldreher next to him in the middle). The cabinet photo measures approximately 9 1/2" x 13" and the entire mount approximately 14" x 20". The mount shows some water staining and photo itself presents with some mild rippling, more apparent to the touch than the eye. The reverse is clean. An incredible piece for the Notre Dame or vintage football collector!
