A truly significant vintage football piece. This cabinet shows the National Champion Yale Bulldogs during the 1886 season. Captain Robert Corwin is holding the ball, just to his right in the stocking cap is William "Pa" Corbin (College Football HOF), on Corbin's other side is the immortal Amos Alonzo Stagg, and 2nd from the right (back row) is future captain (1887) Harry Beecher who is the first football player depicted on a card (N162 Goodwin Champions). The albumin cabinet mount measures approximately 7" x 9". The reverse contains some writing which incorrectly identifies Corbin as Walter Camp; and although there are similarities between the two, Camp was active as an adviser/coach and not a player in 1886. The writing, judging from its content, was probably added later.
